A different kind of representation: It’s about time.

You create your own identity. Only you do.

The world as a whole has come to a time when age old images and representation do not do as much anymore. It can be proven from a marketing perspective and a management perspective as well. There are certain images within the media that have run stale, do not sell anymore, and have run their course. The image of oppression and struggle must be replaced with an image of progress and advancement.

So, the question posed is: How do you intend to change the nature of your representation?

Will you keep on staying as the oppressed victim? Or will you get out there and create a real identity for yourself? Will you keep on living life on the sidelines and always finding someone to blame, or will you get out there and live a full life.

You see, for too long, this generation risks listening to and following the wrong people. The idea that there is someone to blame for all the wrong in the world is a fancy and appealing idea to most. But the truth is, the one person to blame for all that happens in your world is yourself.

The idea of defending an “oppressed black man” is appealing to most GenZ’s because right now, most of them are young. However, soon they will find out that the situations these black men find themselves in is their own creation. No organization such as Black Lives Matter should be set up for the sole purpose of defending black men, who can do perfectly fine by themselves.

Let that energy instead, be drawn to constructive and advancing ideologies that will contribute to the progress of mankind as a whole.

Once more I urge Generation Z; think critically about who you defend and who you follow. Because you have too much power in your hands that you are using to support the wrong people. You need to support people that contribute to the overall advancement of mankind in a positive way. Think of BTS for example. With their UN partnership, they strive to end violence against youth globally. With their Samsung partnership and Hyundai partnership, they speak for the conservation of our environment. These are the types of people that should be supported.

The world cannot be forced to support someone or follow someone just because they “have the sauce” or “can twerk” or “are a hustler” or “can smoke weed.” In the past, people like Abraham Lincoln were praised. People who brought real change and helped the entire human race advance.
